Flashing Lights

Louis Vuitton, Spring 2011

Louis Vuitton, Spring 2007
Did I mention that Spring 2007 was one of Marc Jacobs’ best? Louis Vuitton’s runway was full of breathtaking garden girls layered in pastels, gauze, and cotton. Beautiful floral fabric head wreaths and oversized candy-colored totes full of fresh flowers complemented the light-and-breezy nature of the clothes, and added to their covetable appeal. The wearability of each piece, despite the heavily layered styling, speaks to the talent of Marc and the Louis Vuitton team, and proves how timeless fashion can be.
Louis Vuitton, Spring 2012
If Alice in Wonderland hosted a tripped out Easter parade, this is what everyone would be wearing. Feather/croc moto jackets? Check. Granny panties? Check. Ladylike hair and shoes? Check and check. These girls aren’t late; they’re making an entrance at their very important date.
Louis Vuitton, Fall 2009
I remember how controversial this collection was at the time; you either loved it, or you hated it. That’s sort of the motto for every collection Marc Jacobs designs, and it’s why his shows are so highly anticipated every season. The mix of colors, textures, proportions, and wild accessories combined to make a creative and memorable collection that still speaks to me four years later, and is a reminder that, at least in my opinion, Marc is one of the most talented American designers of this generation.
