Memory Lane

September Fashion Week: that wonderful time of year when the entire fashion community descends on New York City and fills our Instagram feeds with blurry runway photos and paparazzi shots of Anna Dello Russo, all without the burden of coats and slush. We live for it, tweet about it, and pray to the street style gods that we will be photographed during it. For so many years it meant furiously refreshing at all hours of the day to see the latest shows, but last year was a little different. One year ago, I was checking into the Hudson Hotel as part of the Tumblr 20. What began as a terrifyingly exhilarating introduction to the blogging community ended up being the launch into one of the busiest and most exciting years of my life. Since that fateful September day in 2011, I have traveled to London for fashion week, attended the shows of some of my idols, filmed a few videos, graduated college, landed my first grown-up job, made hundreds of new collages, attended an uncountable amount of Pizza Jams, and made a lot of wonderful new friends. I’m reminded every day how lucky I am to count talents like Holly, Noah, Liam, John, Sara, ChuckRich, and many others as friends, collaborators, and cohorts in this strange Internet world. This week I’m happily back to checking in the comfort of my own home, but now with the memories of last September to think back on. A lot can change in a short amount of time, and even though it’s the cheesiest thing I will ever type on this blog, that trip with Tumblr changed my life. Cheers to the memories, good luck to the new crop of bloggers attending the shows, and here’s to another great week of fashion.
