Dries van Noten, Spring 2012
Part II
A totally perfect collection. So perfect that I had to do two posts on it because of its perfection. Dries has long been a favorite of mine. He is one of those rare designers where even his oldest collections still look totally modern and covetable today. I recently went to Bergdorfs with my dad to check out the holiday windows (and so that I could drool over some shoes, obviously), and I had the pleasure of introducing him to good ol’ Dries van Awesome. The intricate beadwork, origami-like draping, and stunning tailoring (not to mention the always bonkers-amazing accessories) capture my heart year after year, season after season. The art-like quality of it all is appealing to even those who have no particular involvement with fashion. To me that is a true success; when people with completely different interests can appreciate the same thing, you know you’ve done something right. Spring 2012 was no exception to the Dries rule. The mixed patterns, boxy shorts, peplum pants, and those SHOES….perfect all around. He’s not called Dries van Awesome for nothing.
